Most business owners become business owners for three reasons: money, money, and money. Selling products, either by merchandising or direct sales, puts money in the business owner's pocket the fastest way possible. Definitions: Merchandising is how you have bought most of your products throughout your life. Merchandising is what a store does when they put a product on the shelf. A customer walks down the aisle and puts the product in their shopping cart. No sales person is involved. A business owner can merchandise by sending customers to a website store. At the store, the customer simply buys what they want, when they want, 24/7, without the business owner even being away of a sale. Direct Sales defines the "normal" activity of a sales person. In direct sales, a business owner would present a product for sale, take the order for the product, then deliver the product, and receive payment for the product. Some direct sales to businesses may even include purchase orders, invoices, and billing.
